Union Gospel Mission (UGM) has been a transformative pillar in the Metro Vancouver community for the last 79 years. What started in 1940 as one location that could seat 60 people for dinner, has grown into a thriving community that many depend on daily. Not only does UGM continue to provide three nourishing meals a day, they also provide shelter, assist with education, and much more.
Today, UGM has 7 locations across Metro Vancouver and the city of Mission where they offer critical services and programs to men, women, and children. Though their team has grown and evolved through the years, UGM has remained committed to a clear vision of transforming communities by overcoming poverty, homelessness and addiction.
Our team at Happy Planet has had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the incredible impact UGM has on the community, and the humbling opportunity to also lend a hand where we can. Each month, we’re happy to provide juices and smoothies to their meal services and outreach street programs. We also roll up our sleeves every couple of months to help UGM’s kitchen team prep and serve during their meal services.
Today, UGM serves over 3,500 meals at its annual Christmas dinner, and over 320,000 meals annually. Through their hard work, dedication, and kindness, they are drastically changing lives and helping create a brighter future for many. If you’d like to learn more, or help UGM feed hope, click here.
